Today we took a water taxi to Venice on another beautiful but hot day! As we arrived we could see Saint Mark’s Square and the many buildings surrounding it. St. Mark’s Basilica is a church but also the official cathedral of Venice. It was built in 1063 and completed late in the 11th century. TheContinue reading “Beautiful Venice”

The Original Glass Factory
We enjoyed a nice breakfast at the NH Collection Murano Villas. After breakfast, we walked to the pier to catch a water taxi to the Original Glass Factory. The hotel features Murano glass figurines in the outdoor seating areas. The water taxi was free of charge as was the tour of the Original Glass Factory.Continue reading “The Original Glass Factory”
Off The Ship and On To Murano
I decided we’d never seen Venice, so we are staying 3 nights on Murano, which is a short water taxi ride to Venice. We left the ship early in the morning for the 3-hour drive to Venice. When we arrived in Tronchetto we had to find a water taxi to take us to Murano. WeContinue reading “Off The Ship and On To Murano”
A Trip to Croatia
We woke up early to begin our tour in Croatia. We arrived at the Port in Split around 7am. We traveled by bus with a large group of about 30. Our first stop was the gallery of a famous sculptor, Ivan Mestrovic. He was born in 1900 and was one of the few artists toContinue reading “A Trip to Croatia”
In the trees
Which fictional world would be the most fun to vacation in? When I was a little girl, I loved Tarzan movies. I loved the way he would swing from branch to branch and when he met Jane they set up a home high up in a tree. I want to be able to call theContinue reading “In the trees”
A Marvelous Day on the Aegean
I don’t usually like to do ship tours, but this was one of the best days. We arrived in Santorini, a tender port, at 7am, with a beautiful view from our balcony. Although it was an early start – we met at 7:45 am- it was well worth it. We had a small group ofContinue reading “A Marvelous Day on the Aegean”
Staying Aboard
I know that when I cruise, I should want to get off at every port. However, today we are in Athens and we have been here before. The temperature is in the high 90s so we decided to just enjoy a less crowded ship. The gym was empty or nearly empty today which was great.Continue reading “Staying Aboard”
Montenegro
Today, our first full day, we arrived in Montenegro. I usually don’t book tours, but because tendering here is difficult, I decided to book one at the last minute. We sat on our balcony as we approached Montenegro. We sailed down the coast of Montenegro. Such a breathtaking landscape. Our tour today took us toContinue reading “Montenegro”
Ravenna
Just a short bit about Ravenna. It’s a charming town that now serves as a cruise port for many international cruise lines. Several years ago Venice no longer allowed large ships in the port. The main town of Ravenna is historic and very quaint. Ravenna is known for its beautiful 5th- and 6th-century mosaics. ItContinue reading “Ravenna”
From Verona to Ravenna
It was a disappointing morning. It was raining so hard that it made no sense to go traipsing about in it. So we slept in and then spent a few hours at the train station. The train was fairly empty from Verona to Bologna. We had plenty of space to put our suitcases. When weContinue reading “From Verona to Ravenna”
