We had such a busy day yesterday for our first day in Frankfurt. We walked about 5 miles and slept about 4 hours. What we didn’t expect was to feel the jet lag on day two.
We struggled to wake up but finally got up and went to breakfast at 10 am. All I really wanted was coffee though. Breakfast at the Steigenberger Frankfurter Hof is served indoors and outdoors. We opted for the outdoors.

Our hotel is on the edge of Old Town and the thriving financial metropolis. Our hotel is an historic building surrounded by high-rises.
After breakfast and a quick shower, we went out and about in Frankfurt.
We visited St. Catherine’s church which is an Evangelical church built between 1678 and 1681.

We strolled through a farmers’ market. They sold fruits, vegetables, and wine.

As we strolled, we rested in the little parks scattered around the area. Church bells chimed, it seemed, every hour. Musicians sang and played instruments. One young man even had an upright piano.
Our next stop was the Cathedral of St. Bartholomew. It was interesting that the stained glass was plain.

We stopped for a little gelato and then at a cafe. I had a cappuccino and Bruce had an elderberry lemonade which was quite sour but refreshing.

We walked about 3-1/2 miles so we headed back to the hotel to rest and put our feet up. It’s much more difficult to walk this much in the heat and hot sun and we are from Florida! What do people do when they are from cooler climates?
For dinner, we went to this really huge mall with a food court on the top floor.

I had schnitzel again and Bruce had tomato soup.

We walked over 13,000 steps today which was over 5 miles. A lovely walk with beautiful architecture, although we were on the warm side.

Hopefully tomorrow we will go to Heidelberg!
