Preparing for a Hurricane

Create an emergency preparedness plan.

Since I live in Florida, hurricanes are an inevitability. Sometimes they move through quickly with tornadoes wreaking havoc on homes, buildings and bridges. Sometimes they move slowly glutting the area with insurmountable rain that has no where to go.

So preparation is a way of life. We have cases of water as well as gallons. If it is definitely coming, I fill buckets so wd can flush toilets.

I stay away from refrigerated products since loss of power will undoubtedly occur. And that can last for days.

I remove all items outside that can take off and break something or someone with the fierce gusts of wins.

My husband has stocked up on survival food which I hope I never have to eat.

We have hurricane impact windows but also have shutters. We put them down.

We are well stocked with flashlights, batteries and candles. I have a small propane grill that I can cook on and heat water to add to my French press. I always need my coffee.

So we are set for this hurricane season.

In 2015, I retired and my goal was to do as much traveling as I possibly could. I started the blog for our first month long trip to Panama in October 2015. My sister Linda and her husband Stan joined Bruce and I on our first trip and we decided together on the name the four amigos. Since then, we don’t always travel with them, sometimes just Bruce and I, sometimes other people, whoever wants to join us on our crazy journeys. The name stuck and I grew an affinity to it. So here we are. I invite you to join thefouramigos blog on our next destination.
