Life is Grand

If humans had taglines, what would yours be?

That’s my tagline today in the twilight of my years. I have had enough money, enough love, enough fun, enough good health to span a lifetime.

Mind you that wasn’t always the case. There was a time when my tagline could have been, “I could have been a contender.” For those of you too young to remember, that was Marlon Brandon’s infamous line in On the Waterfront. I understood that feeling. Nothing was working out. But with hard work, a change in my overall being my life went from that to Life is Grand.

We were told by all the financial analysts that you can’t retire unless you have a million dollars. That’s hogwash. We had less than half of that and we have been able to travel the world 6 months of the year. I learned how to maximize points and miles through 10X travel on Facebook and we have stayed in some awesome places and slept on lay down beds on planes for less than $100.

The man I married is easy and loving and willing to do some of the crazy things his wife likes to do.

We have friends. Not a million but friends with profound meaning in our lives.

Our health has had setbacks but we continue to move forward because another tagline I have is I don’t want to die before I’m dead.

And there’s another tagline I like that sort of pertains and it’s from a Warren Zevon song, I will sleep when I’m dead.

In 2015, I retired and my goal was to do as much traveling as I possibly could. I started the blog for our first month long trip to Panama in October 2015. My sister Linda and her husband Stan joined Bruce and I on our first trip and we decided together on the name the four amigos. Since then, we don’t always travel with them, sometimes just Bruce and I, sometimes other people, whoever wants to join us on our crazy journeys. The name stuck and I grew an affinity to it. So here we are. I invite you to join thefouramigos blog on our next destination.
